\textit{S. K. Mehta}, \textit{S. K. Agrawal} and \textit{A. K. Nigam} [Sankhyā, Ser. B 37, 211-219 (1975; Zbl 0382.05013)] have introduced partially balanced ternary designs and have given two methods of their construction. One from the incidence matrix of a PBIB design and another by multiplying the incidence matrix of a BIB design. In this paper we give two new methods of constructing a series of partially balanced ternary designs. We consider a BIB and a PBIB design both obtained by method of differences from a single initial block with at least one element in common. Combining these two initial blocks as such, we get a difference set, which when developed gives us a partially balanced ternary block designs. Further, considering a PBIB design alone obtained by method of differences we have constructed partially balanced n-ary designs by making use of initial blocks when \(v=r\cdot 2m+1\), a prime or power of a prime.
