We show that on any smoothly bounded domain in \({\mathbb{C}}^ 2\) there exists a \(C^{\infty}\) plurisubharmonic function which has no plurisubharmonic subextension to any larger domain. This extends a result of \textit{N. Sibony} and \textit{J. E. Fornaess} [Lect. Notes Math. 1268, 111- 120 (1987; Zbl 0622.32015)], who showed the existence of plurisubharmonic functions, with singularities, which have no plurisubharmonic subextensions.
