We reconsider the definition of supremum of a set in a multidimensional Euclidean space as an extension of the ordinary supremum in the unidimensional space. The most appropriate definition should satisfy some extensions of the desirable properties of the ordinary supremum and be useful for the analysis in vector optimization. As a conclusion, the definition based on the weak efficiency seems to be the most appropriate from the above mathematical viewpoint. We provide an exact definition of supremum of a set in the extended multidimensional Euclidean space which has two additional elements \(\pm \infty\). Our definition is shown to be almost equivalent to that given by \textit{H. Kawasaki} [Math. Oper. Res. 6, 593-607 (1981; Zbl 0513.90076)]. Some properties of our supremum are investigated.
