Let G be a finite abelian group under addition, let S be a subset of G and let M be a set of integers. If every nonzero element of G can be written uniquely as the product ms where \(m\in M\) and \(s\in S\), we say that M splits G. The set M is called a multiplier and S a splitting set. Splittings arise in connection with certain tilings of the plane. This paper is an extension of previous work of the author, and uses splittings to investigate the number of inequivalent tilings under the action of the orthogonal group. Lower bounds for this number are obtained when the tile is either a `cross' or a `semi-cross'.
