A classical result of Kneser-Hille states that the equation \(y''+p(x)y=0\) is oscillatory if \(\mu_*=\liminf x^ 2p(x)>1/4\) and is nonoscillatory if \(\mu^*=\limsup x^ 2p(x)<1/4.\) No conclusion can be drawn if either quantity equals 1/4. In this paper the author shows that for a certain class of functions p (p ad y may be complex-valued), the equation is nonoscillatory when \(\mu =\mu_*=\mu^*=1/4\). Results on approximate location of zeros of nontrivial solutions are also given.
