The authors deal with the Ginzburg-Landau equation with small complex coefficients of the form \[ W_t= c_0W+ (c_0+ i\varepsilon c_1) W_{xx}- \Biggl({c_0\over 2}+ i\varepsilon c_2\Biggr)|W|^2 W-\Biggl({c_0\over 2}+ i\varepsilon c_3\Biggr)|W|^4W, \] where \(W(x,t)\) is a complex function of space and time \((x,t)\in \mathbb{R}\times \mathbb{R}\) and \(c_0\), \(c_1\), \(c_2\), \(c_3\) are real parameters while \(\varepsilon\) is a small parameter. The authors restrict themselves to the existence of homoclinic orbits in the system. Using results from geometrical perturbation theory and the transversally homoclinic theory, the authors obtain a condition on the parameters for the existence of homoclinic orbits.
