A Banach space \(X\) is said to have property \((H)\) if for every \(\lambda\geq 1\) there is \(c(\lambda)\) so that for every \(n\in\mathbb{N}\), whenever \(\{u_ k\}^ n_ 1\subset X\) is a \(\lambda\)-unconditional basic sequence then \[ c(\lambda)^{-1} \sqrt n\leq \Bigl\| \sum^ n_ 1 u_ k\Bigr\|\leq c(\lambda) \sqrt n. \] G. Pisier proved that every weak Hilbert space has property \((H)\), but it is an open problem, whether every space with property \((H)\) is a weak Hilbert space. In this paper the authors present a study of property \((H)\) and prove in particular that a Banach lattice has this property if and only if it is a weak Hilbert space.
