Universal simple current vertex operators (Q1283186): Difference between revisions

The author presents a realization of the simple current of a simply laced WZW conformal field theory as vertex operators acting on the Fock space of a compactified string theory. This provides for the first time a concrete field-theoretic description of these primary fields. To achieve the goal above the author has embedded integrable highest weight modules of the corresponding affine Lie algebra into the Fock space for a bosonic string compactified on the weight lattice of the Lie algebra. The expression for the vertex operators obtained is universal in the sense that for all positive integral values of the level of the Lie algebra there is the same expression for the vertex operator.
