In another paper, the author has shown that any abstract polytope \(P\) is a quotient \(Q= M(W)/N\) of a regular polytope \(M\) with automorphim group \(W\) (a string \(C\)-group), by a subgroup \(N\) of \(W\). The proof was based on the so-called flag action of \(W\) on the flags of the original polytope. In the present paper, the author pays attention to the quotient \(Q\), and various important structures and properties relating to polytopes are described in terms of \(N'\), the stabilizer of a flag of the quotient under the flag action of \(W\). Moving away from general properties, also special ones (such as regularity, section regularity, chirality, local regularity and local universality) are examined with their relations to the subgroup \(N'\). As the author says, the main motivation for these investigations is to make it more practical to study non-regular polytopes in terms of group theory.
