For Hankel operators associated with delay systems of the form \[ \dot x(t)= Ax(t)+ \sum^q_{j=0} B_ju(t- t_j),\quad y(t)= Cx(t), \] the authors want to obtain explicit expressions for the singular values and corresponding singular vectors. For a large class of delay systems the authors obtain these expressions. However, their algorithm does not work in general. For instance, it cannot be applied for some \(k\) and \(j\), \((t_q- t_j)/(t_q- t_k)\) is irrational and \(2t_j> t_q\). The underlying reason is that in this situation the Gramian is not an integral operator with a semi-separable kernel.
