The present paper is devoted to the simultaneous external and internal stabilization of some critically unstable autonomous linear differential and discrete systems of the form \[ \Sigma^c_\sigma: x'=Ax+B\sigma(u+d)\text{ and }\Sigma^d_\sigma:x(k+1)=Ax(k)+B\sigma(u(k)+d(k)), \] where \(x\in R^n\), \(u,d\in R^m\), \(\sigma(s)=[\sigma_1(s)\sigma_2(s)\cdots \sigma_m(s)]'\) is a saturation function, \(A\), \(B\) are constant matrices. The basic assumptions in the paper are: (1) The pair \((A,B)\) is stabilizable, and (2) The eigenvalues of \(A\) are in the closed left half complex plane for \(\Sigma^c_\sigma\)-systems, and are inside and/or on the unit circle for \(\Sigma^d_\sigma\)-systems. Applying the low-gain, low-and-high gain design concepts or certain scheduled versions of them, four different stabilization problems are solved for \(\Sigma^d_\sigma\)-systems. Namely, (1) simultaneous semi-global external and semi-global internal stabilization \((SG_{p,q}/SG)\), \(p,q\in [1,\infty)\), (2) simultaneous semi-global external and global internal stabilization \((SG_{p,q}/G)\), \(p,q\in [1,\infty)\), (3) simultaneous global external and semi-global internal stabilization \((G_p/SG)\), \(p\in [1,\infty)\), and (4) simultaneous global external and global internal stabilization \((G_p/G)\), \(p=1,2\). Herein the parameters \(p\), \(q\) describe the different types of feedback controllers constructed. For the \(\Sigma^d_\sigma\)-systems, explicit state feedback controllers are only constructed for the following three problems: (1) \((SG_{p,q}/SG)\), \(p\in [1,\infty)\), \(q\in [1,2]\), (2) \((SG_{p,q}/G)\), \(p\in[1,\infty]\), \(q\in [1,2]\), and (3) \((G_p/G)\), \(p\in [1,2]\).
