The authors employ the effective field method in predicting effective dielectric, piezoelectric and thermoelastic properties of a composite material which consists of a homogeneous matrix with inclusions uniformly distributed in the matrix under linear elastic loadings. The paper is based on the first author's earlier paper [Sov. Phys. Dokl. 20, 147-148 (1975; Zbl 0323.73007); translation from Dokl. Akad. Nauk SSSR 220, 1042-1045 (1975)], where this method was used for the derivation of elastic constants of composite material. By use of the method, the effective properties are calculated for composite materials containing a random array of ellipsoidal inclusions or reinforced spheroidal inclusions. Some numerical results are given for effective properties of PZT and BT particle-reinforced polymers. The results are compared with other theoretical results. The static predictions given in the paper may be of interest to researchers in the area of polymer composites.
