It is well-known that the matrix elements of the intertwining operators between certain representations of affine Lie algebras are solutions of a system of differential equations, called the Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov (KZ)- equations. Moreover, solutions of the KZ equations may be regarded as covariant constant sections of a flat connection on a trivial vector bundle over the configuration space of sets of \(N\) distinct points of \(\mathbb{C}\) (for any \(N\geq 2\)). \textit{I. Frenkel} and \textit{N. Reshetikhin} [Commun. Math. Phys. 146, 1-60 (1992; Zbl 0760.17006)] defined a system of difference equations, which they called the quantum KZ-equations, which are similarly related to the matrix elements of intertwining operators between representations of quantum affine algebras. The purpose of this paper is to give a vector bundle interpretation of solutions of the quantum KZ-equations. To a family \(\{R_{ij}(\tau)\}\) of trigonometric solutions of the quantum Yang-Baxter equation, satisfying certain unitarity and regularity conditions, together with a family of linear maps \(A_ i\) which are `compatible' with the \(R_{ij}\) in a certain sense (and where \(1\leq i,j\leq N\)), the author constructs a holomorphic vector bundle over the product of \(N\) copies of an elliptic curve \(T\). The bundle is trivial over each of a finite number of open sets whose closures cover \(T\), and the \(R_{ij}\) and \(A_ i\) provide the transition functions. Global meromorphic solutions of this bundle are shown to be solutions of the quantum KZ-equations. Using results of \textit{V. Chari} and \textit{A. Pressley} [Commun. Math. Phys. 142, 261-283 (1991; Zbl 0739.17004)], the author shows that a suitable family of maps \(R_{ij}\) and \(A_ i\) can be associated to quantum affine \(\text{sl}_ 2\).
