A filter of subsets of a topological space is called compactoid if every finer ultrafilter converges. The authors collect several properties and characterizations of compactoid filters. They give some applications -- for example to the construction of usco and minimal usco mappings, and to the stability of K-analytic spaces with respect to certain mappings.
