Herrn Moon's Fundamentalgleichungen für die Bewegung von Flüssigkeiten nach einer Richtung sind \[ p= f_1(x,t), \quad \rho= f_2(x,t), \quad v=f_3(x,t); \] und Herr Challis zeigt, dass diese Differentialgleichungen in der That dieselben sind, wie die, welche Herr Earnshaw in seiner Arbeit: ``On the mathematical theory of sound'', Trans. of Lond. CL. p. 133 angewendet.
