A ring \(R\) is called a `right max' ring if every nonzero right \(R\)-module has a maximal submodule. This is a survey paper on max rings. Many results on max rings are given and the proofs are also stated for the convenience of the readers. Some proofs are new and shorter. Various max rings are introduced from the names of the sections: 1. General results on max rings, 2. Semi-Artinian max rings, 3. Weakly regular max rings, 4. Strongly \(\pi\)-regular max rings, 5. Max rings and semiprime Goldie rings, 6. Other results related to max rings.
