The author generalizes the following result of \textit{M. Kalka, B. Shiffmann} and \textit{B. Wong} [Mich. Math J. 28, 289--295 (1981; Zbl 0459.32011)]: Theorem. Let \(Y\) be a compact Kähler manifold of dimension \(n\) with \(c_1(Y)=0\). Then for any compact complex manifold \(X\), the set \(\text{Hol}_{\text{surj}}(X,Y)\) of holomorphic surjective maps from \(X\) to \(Y\) is discrete if \(c_n(Y)\neq 0\). The author's result refines the condition from \(c_n(Y)\neq 0\) to \(c_i(Y)\neq 0\) for some \(1\leq i\leq n \). In fact, the author proves the following Theorem. Let \(Y\) be a compact Ricci-flat Kähler manifold and \(X\) be a compact complex manifold. For any surjective holomorphic map \(f: X\rightarrow Y\), there exists a finite etale cover \(g: Z\rightarrow Y\) with the following properties: (1) There exists a surjective holomorphic map \(h: X\rightarrow Z\) such that \(f=g\circ h\); (2) The two natural homomorphisms \[ H^0(Z, T(Z))\rightarrow H^0(Z, g^*T(Y))\rightarrow H^0(X,f^*T(Y)) \] are isomorphisms.
