A semilinear transport equation with delays (Q1811963): Difference between revisions

The authors consider the equation \[ \begin{cases} u_t(x, t)+ (g(x) u(x,t))_x= f(u(\alpha x,t-\tau)),\;&0\leq x\leq 1,\;t>0,\\ u(x,t)= \varphi(x,t)\in Y,\;&0\leq x\leq 1,\;-\tau\leq t\leq 0,\end{cases} \] where the delays \(\alpha\) and \(\tau\) are such that \(0< \alpha< 1\) and \(\tau\geq 0\), and \(Y\) is the space of real continuous functions on \([0,1]\times [-\tau,0]\). The main goal is to distinguish abnormal behaviour dependent upon properties of the linear maturation process \((g(x) u(x,t))_x\), the nonlinear proliferation process \(f(u(\alpha x,t-\tau))\), and the initial values \(\varphi(x,t)\).
