The authors present some sharp inequalities for the gradient of \(u\in L_1^{\text{loc}} (\mathbb{R}^n)\) generalizing the classical one-dimensional E. Landau inequality. The following result is typical. Let \(\alpha>0\) and \(u\in C^1(\mathbb{R}^n)\). Then \[ |\nabla u(x)|\leq C[({\mathcal M}u) (x)]^{1/ \alpha+1} \Biggl( \sup_{r>0} \frac{|\nabla u(x)- (A\nabla u)(x,r)|} {r^\alpha} \Biggr)^{\frac{1}{\alpha+1}}, \] where \(C\) is the sharp constant given by \[ C:- \frac{(n+1)(\alpha+1)} {\alpha} \Biggl( \frac{\alpha n} {(n+\alpha)(n+\alpha+1)} \Biggr)^{1/\alpha+1}. \] The maximal function \(Mu\) is given by \[ Mu(x):=\sup_{r>0}\left|\frac{1}{| B_r(x)|}\int_{B_r(x)}\frac{y-x}{| y-x|}\;u(y)dy\right| \] where \(B_r(x):=\{x\in\mathbb{R}^n: | x-y|\leq r\}\) is the Euclidean ball. At last, \[ (A^{(1)} u)(x,v):=\frac{1}{| B_r(x)|}\int_{B_r(x)} u(y)dy. \]
