In [J. Lond. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 46, 92-100 (1992; Zbl 0792.20007)] the author constructed two solvable groups with identical character tables and derived lengths 2 and 3 respectively. This answers in the negative a question posed by R. Brauer, namely whether the derived length of a solvable group can be read off from the character table. In this note the author shows that even in the class of \(p\)-groups Brauer's question has a negative answer. The groups constructed have order \(p^{11}\), class 4 and derived lengths again 2 and 3 respectively.
