Because of its connections with Lie algebras, algebraic groups and quantum groups, as well as representation theory and group theory, the Schur algebra is an object of much interest; in particular, calculating decomposition multiplicities of modules for this algebra has attracted a lot of interest in recent years. One way of computing these multiplicites is to find embeddings of one Schur algebra into another (as a linear subspace, preserving the multiplication). The author builds on recent work of \textit{A. E. Henke} [J. Algebra 233, No. 1, 342-362 (2000; Zbl 0979.20016)] and his joint work with \textit{S. Martin} [part I, J. Algebra 240, No. 2, 859-873 (2001; Zbl 0990.20029)] in which embeddings of Schur algebras of the form \(S(2,r)\) over an infinite field of prime characteristic (into other such Schur algebras) are constructed. He constructs an embedding of \(S(2,r)\) into \(S(2,rp+q)\) for all \(q\) between \(0\) and \(p-1\), thus giving each Schur algebra \(S(2,R)\) an embedded subalgebra isomorphic to \(S(2,\lfloor R/p\rfloor)\). The author also examines the consequences of these embeddings for dual Weyl modules, computing their restrictions to these embedded subalgebras, and finally is able to use these techniques to recompute the decomposition matrices for \(S(2,r)\), first discovered by \textit{R. Carter} and \textit{E. Cline} [Proc. Conf. Finite Groups, Univ. Utah, Park City, Academic Press, New York 1975, 301-311 (1976; Zbl 0356.20048)]. The methods used are mostly combinatorial and basis-theoretic.
