In the paper under review, \(W^*\)-continuous semigroups of normal completely positive (CP) maps of \(B(H)\) and the classification of their minimal dilations to \(E_0\)-semigroups are considered. The paper consists of two parts. In Part I, the construction of the product system \(\mathbb{E}_\phi(t)\) of a CP semigroup is presented. This product system has as fibres the inductive limits of appropriately selected tensor products of the metric operator spaces associated with the CP semigroup. In Part II, the construction of Part I is applied to the class of CP semigroups of \(B(L^2(\mathbb{R}))\) called quantized convolution semigroups. It is proven that the product system of a quantized convolution semigroup is isomorphic to the product system associated to a related \(\mathbb{R}^2\)-valued Lévy process. The proof involves certain stochastic integrals that are connected to the inductive limit spaces and maps of Part I. There are other works studying dilations from the point of view of product systems. The approach of the present paper is focused on the metric operator spaces of completely positive maps introduced by Arveson. In this paper, in fact, the first application of such a principle to a concrete characterization of the minimal dilation a CP semigroup is presented.
