The author considers functions with values in a \(H^*\)-algebra (i.e., a Banach *-algebra \(A\) with norm defined by a scalar product and such that the involution \(x \to x^*\) satisfies \((xy,z) = (y,x^* z) = (x, zy^*)\) for all \(x,y,z \in A)\). Some classical results about monotone and convex functions as well as the Stieltjes integral are generalized to the case of such functions.
