The paper deals with the space \(\mathcal B\) of harmonic functions \(f\) on a homogeneous tree \(T\) with the property that \(|f(a)-f(b)|\) is bounded for all pairs of neighboring vertices \(a\) and \(b\). This is a tree version of the classical Bloch space in the open unit disc and its definition has been motivated by the classical characterization of the latter space. The unit ball \(U\) of \(\mathcal B\) is convex and compact under the compact-open topology. The main result of the paper give necessary and sufficient conditions for a harmonic function to be an extreme point of \(U\). For the little Bloch space \({\mathcal B}_0\) of functions \(f\) such that \(|f(u)-f(v)|\to 0\), as \(u\) and \(v\) approach the boundary, the above-mentioned conditions turn out to be necessary and sufficient for the extremity of \(g\in {\mathcal B}_0\). For real-valued harmonic functions on \(T\) the results are complete and explicit.
