The space \(Q_p(\partial\Delta) \) consists of those functions \( f \) defined on the unit circle \( \partial\Delta\) such that \( \|f\|^2= \sup_I |I|^{-p}\int_I\int_I \frac{|f(z)-f(w)|^2}{|z-w|^{2-p}} |dz||dw|<\infty\) in which the supremum is taken over all boundary arcs. It is clear that this space corresponds with BMO of the unit circle when \( p= 2\). In fact, the author proves that this equivalence extends to all \( p>1 \). The interest in \(Q_p(\partial\Delta) \) for \( p\in (0,1) \) stems from its role in terms of boundary values of holomorphic functions in the disk. Of particular interest is the fact that all of the \(Q_p(\partial\Delta) \) are invariant under the Möbius transformation \( \phi_w(z) = \frac{w-z}{1-\overline{w}z}\). In fact the author proves that the norm on \(Q_p(\partial\Delta) \) is invariant under this family of transformations and, in particular, that BMO is so. In addition, \(Q_p(\partial\Delta) \) is identified as the Möbius invariant subspace of the Sobolev space \({\mathcal L}^2_p \) normed by the square root of \(\int_{\partial\Delta}\int_{\partial\Delta} \frac{|f(z)-f(w)|^2}{|z-w|^{2-p}} |dz||dw|\). The author also extends the standard Carleson characterization of BMO in terms of wavelet coefficients to the full range of \(Q_p(\partial\Delta) \) spaces.
