The authors study chain structures \(\Sigma(P,{\mathcal G}_1,{\mathcal G}_2,{\mathcal K})\). They consider a particular class called symmetric 2-structures. This implies that each chain \(K\in{\mathcal K}\) admits a reflection mapping chains onto chains. Select a chain \(E\in{\mathcal K}\). A `permutation set' is assigned to \(E\) and it is required that this set acts sharply 2-transitive. Then operations \(+\) and \(\cdot\) are defined on \(E\) such that \(E\), \(+\) is a \(K\)-loop and \(E\setminus\{0\}\), \(\cdot\) is a Bol loop. If one requires additionally that \(\Sigma\) is point-symmetric, then \(E\), \(+\), \(-\) is a quasi-domain and a set of affine permutations is associated with the 2-structure.
