In this 16 pages long paper, the author describes Bernhard Riemann's (1826--1866) life by its publications. As a matter of fact, the papers published by Riemann during his lifetime were only eleven. Posthumously were edited four more articles. Any paper is interesting in itself, but crucial is the text \textit{Ueber die Anzahl der Primzahlen unter einer gegebenen Grösse} [On the number of primes below a given quantity] where, starting from Euler's work, Riemann introduces the concept of the \textit{\(\zeta\)-function} at the basis of the so-called \textit{Riemann hypothesis}. What is to notice in the work under review is the wealth of pictures dispersed in it (for the most part portraits of the mathematicians whom Riemann was acquainted with). The author does not insert any form of reference, being his article only an extended version of a lecture given in occasion of the awarding of the \textit{Riemann Prize} to Terence Tao.
