A natural number m is called congruent if it is the area of some right triangle with rational sides or, equivalently, if there is a non-trivial rational point on the elliptic curve \(E_ m: my^ 2=x^ 3-x\). Combining theorems of Coates-Wiles, Waldspurger, Tunnell and Gross-Zagier with explicit calculations, we determine for all numbers less than 2000 whether or not they are congruent. The result agrees with the conjecture of Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer.
