The one-dimensional transport chemotaxis model \[ \begin{align*}{ &\partial_t u + \partial_x v = 0, \quad \partial_t v + \gamma^2 \partial_x u = g(\phi,\partial_x\phi) u - h(\phi,\partial_x\phi) v, \cr & \partial_t \phi - D \partial_x^2\phi = f(u,\phi) }\end{align*} \] has spatially homogeneous steady states \((U,0,\Phi)\) provided \(g(\Phi,0)=f(U,\Phi)=0\). Here, \(u\), \(v\), and \(\phi\) denote the density of cells, the momentum of cells, and the density of chemoattractant, respectively. When \(x\) ranges in \({\mathbb R}\), the local stability of the state \((0,0,0)\) (\(U=\Phi=0\)) is shown provided that \(\partial_1 f(0,0)>0\), \(\partial_2 f(0,0)<0\), and \(h(0,0)>0\). When \(x\) ranges in a bounded interval \((0,L)\) and the system is supplemented with homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions, the conditions \(\partial_1 f(U,\Phi)>0\), \(\partial_2f(U,\Phi)<0\), \(\partial_2g(\Phi,0)>0\), and \(h(\Phi,0)>0\) guarantee the local stability of \((U,\Phi)\) provided that \(U\) is small enough. Two numerical schemes are next developed, one being of higher accuracy for stationary solutions, and numerical simulations are performed with the two aims of comparing the two schemes and providing a more detailed study of the dynamics.
