In this work the authors deal with some Dirichlet problem for a nonlinear anisotropic parabolic equation of the following form \[ \frac{ \partial u}{ dt} - \mathrm{div}( a(x,t,u,Du))= u^{q(x,t)} \text{ in } \Omega \times (0,T). \] The nonlinearity \(a(x,t,u,Du)\) may have polynomial growth form with respect to the gradient: \(\| Du^m \|^{p(x,t)-1} Du^m+ b(x,t) Du^m, m>0\). The variable exponent functions \(p(x,t)\) and \(q(x,t)\) are assumed to be bounded from above and below and satisfy the well known classical log-Hölder continuity assumption. The function \(b\) is a given bounded function. The authors prove the local weak solutions with some energy estimate in a suitable anisotropic space. The properties of extinction, non-extinction blow-up and global existence of solutions are discussed according to some concise classification of the exponents \(m, p\) and \(q\). Some asymptotic estimate of the solutions is also given.
