The authors study the Cauchy-Dirichlet problem for the fast diffusion equation \( \partial_t\left(|u|^{m-2} u\right)=\Delta u\) in \(\Omega\times (0,\infty)\) with \(\Omega\) denoting a bounded domain in \({\mathbb R}^N\) with smooth boundary and \(m>2\). Using rescale variables they investigate asymptotic profiles of sign-changing solutions and their stability near their finite extinction times. Proofs make use of dynamical system techniques along with energy-type and variational methods.
