    The paper studies the Dirichlet problem \(-\nabla \cdot (M(x)\nabla u)+\mu u=-\nabla \cdot (uE(x))+f(x)\) in \(\Omega \), \(u=0\) on \(\partial \Omega \), \(u\in W^{1,2}(\Omega )\). Here \(\Omega \subset\mathbb R^N\) is an open set, \(N>2\), \(M\) is a measurable matrix field such that there exist positive constants \(\alpha \), \(\beta \) with \(\alpha |\xi |^2 \leq M(x)\xi \cdot \xi \), \(|M(x)|\leq \beta \) for a.e. \(x\in \Omega \) and all \(\xi \in R^N\), \(\mu >0\), \(E\) is a vector field and \(f\) is a real function. The authors prove the unique solvability of the problem under the assumption \(f\in L^1(\Omega )\cap L^{2N/(N+2)}(\Omega )\), \(|E|\in L^2(\Omega )\cap M_0^N(\Omega )\). Here \(M_0^p(\Omega )\) is some subspace of \(L^p_{\mathrm{loc}}(\overline \Omega )\). The regularity of the solution is also studied .
