The logarithmic invariants of knots were introduced in [\textit{J. Murakami} and \textit{K. Nagamoto}, Int. J. Math. 19, No. 10, 1203--1213 (2008; Zbl 1210.57016)] using the radical part of projective modules of the restricted quantum group \(\overline{\mathcal{U}}_q(sl_2)\) at roots of unity. The author of the article under review gives a formula for the logarithmic invariant in terms of the colored Jones invariants. The author also gives a version of the volume conjecture stating a relation between the logarithmic invariants and the hyperbolic volume of the cone manifolds along a knot. The case of the figure eight knot is proved.
