The authors find the expected value of the length of the shortest closed geodesic on a random compact Riemann surface, in the large genus limit, in a measure on Teichmüller space introduced by Brooks and Makover. Imagine that you could write down the list of expected values of lengths of geodesics ordered by length. They prove that any finite subset of this list becomes independent of the genus in the large genus limit.
