In this book the author studies Volterra equations of the form \[ \int_{a(t)}^t K(t,s)x(s)\,ds = f(t), \quad t\in [t_0,T]. \] In the first chapter the classical equation of the first kind, that is, the case where \(a(t)=t_0\) is studied whereas in the second chapter it is assumed that \(a(t) < t\) for all \(t\in [t_0,T]\) and in the third chapter the case where \(a(t_0) = t_0\) is considered. These equations are considered from many points of view including numerical solution methods, stability with respect to disturbances in \(f\) or \(a\) and regularization questions. Various versions of the Gronwall-Bellman inequality are important tools in the analysis.
