The authors generalize the result of Shen and Zhu that every oriented complete non-compact hypersurface with constant mean curvature and finite total curvature in \(\mathbb R^{n+1}\) is minimal in \(\mathbb R^{n+1}\), so that the hypersurface is a hyperplane provided it is strongly stable. They prove the following theorem: Let \(M^n\) be an oriented complete non-compact submanifold with parallel mean curvature vector and finite total curvature in \(\mathbb R^{n+k}\). Then \(M^n\) has to be minimal in \(\mathbb R^{n+k}\), so that \(M^n\) is an affine \(n\)-plane provided it is strongly stable.
