    The author considers the homogeneous Abel integral equation of the second kind with power-law nonlinearity, of the form: \[ u^\mu(x) = {1\over \Gamma(\alpha)} \int_0^x {K(x, s)u(s) \over (x-s)^{1-\alpha}}\;ds, \quad x \in [0, T], \mu >1,\;0 < \alpha \leq 1 \] where the function \(K\) is non-negative. The existence of the non-trivial solution of this equation is studied, employing fixed point techniques. The main result states that there exists a unique positive solution in an order interval of a cone in a Banach space.
