Let first \(\Gamma\) be a convex compact (coinfinite) Kleinian group; to this we can associate a canonical (Patterson-Sullivan) measure on the limit set. In this case it is, up to a multiple, the Hausdorff measure. This also gives rise to a measure on the space of geodesics on the quotient space. Any measure which is supported on the geodesics which neither diverge to \(\infty\) in the future nor the past are known as currents. The total measure of a current is called the length. The purpose of the present paper is first to investigate in detail the ergodic properties of the geodesic flow and, secondly, to investigate how the dimensions of the limit sets and the lengths of the Patterson-Sullivan currents vary under a quasi-conformal distortion. The authors show also how the Patterson-Sullivan current can be approximated by geodesics.
