Kennt man die Asymptotenlinien einer Fläche \(z = F (x, y)\), so findet man ohne Integration die Asymptotenlinien der Fläche \[ x_1=\frac{\partial z}{\partial x},\quad y_1=\frac{\partial z}{\partial y},\quad z_1=z-x\frac{\partial z}{\partial x}-y\frac{\partial z}{\partial y}. \tag{1} \]
