The algebra \(A_ P\) of analytic functions f on the open unit disc in \({\mathbb{C}}\) is considered where \(| f(z)| \leq C Exp p_ k(| z|)\), \(| z| <1\), for some \(C,k>0\). Here \(P=(p_ k)_{k\in {\mathbb{N}}}\) is an increasing sequence of nonnegative nondecresing unbounded functions on [0,1[ satisfying some conditions which guarantee that \(A_ P\) is an algebra in which divison is possible, i.e. if \(f,g\in A_ P\) then also \(f/g\in A_ P\) whenever f/g is analytic. Each closed ideal I in \(A_ P\), regarded as a locally convex space, is localized, i.e. it is determined by its joint zeros (with multiplicities). Using a sequence space representation of \(A_ P/I\), it is characterized in terms of the distribution of zeros of I whether I is a complemented subspace of \(A_ P\). This question is closely related to the problem, which shift invariant subspaces are complemented in certain spaces of analytic functions on the disc which are smooth up to the boundary. Corresponding results for a decreasing system \((p_ k)_{k\in {\mathbb{N}}}\) are given.
