Many papers have been devoted to the study of Lie groups having faithful continuous finite-dimensional representations, but very few papers are there on the study of finite-dimensional discontinuous representations of Lie groups. Moskowitz considered the study of discontinuous representations of Lie groups as a complicated problem. However in this short note A. I. Shtern, gives a very elegant proof of the following beautiful theorem for a connected Lie group to have finite-dimensional discontinuous representations. ``A connected Lie group admits a faithful locally bounded (not necessarily continuous) finite dimensional representation if and only if it admits a continuous faithful finite-dimensional representation, that is if and only if it is a linear Lie group.''
