The paper under review deals with the homogenization of fourth-order elliptic operators with periodic coefficients. More precisely, the authors consider an elliptic differential operator \(A_\varepsilon\) on \(L_2(\mathbb{R}^d,\mathbb{C}^n)\) of the form \[ A_\varepsilon\equiv b(\mathbf{D})^\ast g(x/\varepsilon)b(\mathbf{D})\, , \] where \(g(x)\) is a Hermitian matrix-valued function periodic with respect to some lattice and \( b(\mathbf{D})\) is a matrix second-order differential operator. Under assumption ensuring that \(A_\varepsilon\) is strongly elliptic, they consider the resolvent operator \((A_\varepsilon+I)^{-1}\) and obtain the approximation \[ (A_\varepsilon+I)^{-1}=(A^0+I)^{-1}+\varepsilon K_1 +\varepsilon^2K_2(\varepsilon)+O(\varepsilon^3)\, , \] in the operator norm of \(L_2(\mathbb{R}^d,\mathbb{C}^n)\), where \(A^0\) is the effective operator and \(K_1\), \(K_2(\varepsilon)\) are correctors.
