The author gives a substantial improvement for the error term in the asymptotic formula for the smallest parts function spt\((n)\) given by \textit{G. E. Andrews} [J. Reine Angew. Math. 624, 133--142 (2008; Zbl 1153.11053)]. The new method discussed by the author depends on an explicit bound for sums of Kloosterman sums of half integral weight on the full modular group; by this method one can obtain more terms in the asymptotic expansion of spt\((n)\). The expansion for the inner product \(I_{m,n}(s,w)\) of two Poincaré series by unfolding is obtained; and he sets a new condition as \(m_{\chi}>0\) and \(n_{\chi}<0\) for a particular expression for the inner product on the place of \(m_{\chi}>0\) and \(n_{\chi}>0\) as discussed by \textit{W. de A. Pribitkin} [Forum Math. 12, No. 4, 449--459 (2000; Zbl 0991.11021)]. Further, a bound for the norm of the Poincaré series is given and it is also proven using similar techniques as given by \textit{E. Yoshida} [``On an estimate of the Kloosterman zeta function'', Bull. Tsuyama Natl. Coll. Technol. 53 (2011)] and the Kloosterman zeta function. Several other related results are discussed and proved, which are useful for further advancement of the related research field.
