    Let \(\Gamma:[0,\infty)\to \mathbb{R}^n\) be a curve in \(\mathbb{R}^n\), \(n\geq 2\), and define \[ H_\varepsilon f(x)= \int^\infty_0 f(x-\Gamma(t)) (1+t^2)^{-1/2-i\varepsilon}dt\text{ and }H_{\varepsilon,\delta}f(x)= \int^\infty_\delta f(x-\Gamma(t)) t^{-1-i\varepsilon}dt \] for \(x\in\mathbb{R}^n\), \(f\in C^\infty_0(\mathbb{R}^n)\), \(\varepsilon>0\) and \(\delta>0\). The author seeks conditions on \(\Gamma\) so that \(H_\varepsilon\) is a bounded linear operator on \(L^2(\mathbb{R}^n)\) and the family of operators \(\{H_{\varepsilon,\delta}\}\), for a fixed \(\varepsilon\), is uniformly bounded on \(L^2(\mathbb{R}^n)\). The results in this paper are analogues of those for the Hilbert transform \(H_\Gamma f(x)= \text{p.v. }\int_{\mathbb{R}} f(x-\Gamma(t)) t^{-1}dt\) and the maximal operator \(M_\Gamma f(x)= \sup_{h>0} h^{-1}\int^h_0| f(x-\Gamma(t))| dt\), which were studied by many authors (for instance, see [\textit{A. Nagel}, \textit{J. Vance}, \textit{S. Wainger} and \textit{D. Weinberg}, Duke Math. J. 50, 735-744 (1983; Zbl 0524.44001); ibid. 52, 715-722 (1985; Zbl 0657.42018); Am. J. Math.108, 485-504 (1986; Zbl 0589.42014)]).
