An important construction in the theory of quantum groups and quantum algebras is that of canonical bases. The original example of this construction is the Kazhdan-Lusztig basis of the Hecke algebra. The Temperley-Lieb algebra may be defined as a certain quotient of the Hecke algebra of a Coxeter system of type \(A\). It is possible to generalize this construction to an arbitrary Coxeter system obtaining the so-called ``generalized Temperley-Lieb algebras'' as quotients. In the present article the authors show that canonical bases exist for Hecke algebra quotients associated to a Coxeter system of arbitrary type. Moreover, in the case where the Coxeter system is simply laced and the algebra is finite-dimensional, they explicitly determine this basis.
