An appropriate probability model for the age-dependent minimal repair model of \textit{H. W. Block}, \textit{W. S. Borges} and \textit{T. H. Savits} [J. Appl. Probab. 22, 370-385 (1985; Zbl 0564.60084)] is developed and a counting process approach is used to extend the large sample theorems of \textit{L. R. Whitaker} and \textit{F. J. Samaniego} [J. Am. Stat. Assoc. 84, No. 405, 301-309 (1989; Zbl 0698.62099)] to the whole line. Applications of these results to confidence bands and an extension of the Wilcoxon two-sample test are examined.
