The authors present rigorous error estimates for the enhanced strain finite element method for the linear elasticity problem. The first result is an a priori convergence estimate which is uniform in (i.e., independent of) the relevant Lamé constant \(\lambda\). Then a residual-based a posteriori estimate is given for the \(L^2\) norm of the stress error.
