Let \(A\) be a commutative ring and \(f\) a polynomial over \(A\). The content \(c(f)\) of \(f\) is the ideal generated by the coefficients of \(f\). This notion is used to prove that a polynomial ring over a UFD is also a UFD. Indeed, we know that \(c(fg)=A\) if and only if \(c(f)=c(g)=A\) when \(g\) is another polynomial over \(A\). The ideal \(c(fg)\) is called a Gaussian ideal. In this article, the authors compute some invariants and a primary decompositionof \(c(fg)\) for two polynomial with indeterminate coefficients: \(f(t)=X_mt^m+X_{m-1}t^{m-1}+\cdots+X_0\), \(g(t)=Y_nt^n+Y_{n-1}t^{n-1}+\cdots+Y_0\).
