    The existence of closed, strictly convex, spacelike Weingarten hypersurfaces in Lorentz manifolds under the assumption that there exist an upper barrier, has beeen proved by \textit{C. Gerhardt} in [Indiana Univ. Math. J. 49, No. 3, 1125--1153 (2000; Zbl 1034.53064)]. In the present paper the author considers an analogous problem for strictly convex, spacelike hypersurfaces with prescribed Weingarten curvature and boundary. Here the class of curvature functions is an extension of the class of curvature functions introduced by C. Gerhardt. The existence of smooth solutions is proved under the main assumptions that there exists an upper barrier.
