Let \(K\) be a number field with ring of integers \(D\). Let \(f(X,Y) \in K [X,Y]\) and consider the set \(S\) of those \(m \in D\) for which \(f(m,Y)\) splits into linear factors over \(K\). Denote by \(\Sigma\) the splitting field of \(f\) over \(K(X)\). Siegel showed that \(S\) is finite if \(\Sigma\) has positive genus. A theorem of \textit{Yu. Belotserkovskij} (Bilu) [Izv. Akad. Nauk BSSR, Ser. Fiz.-Mat. Nauk 1988, No. 3, 111-115 (1988; Zbl 0649.10014)] makes it possible to determine effectively the set \(S\). The author considers the case when \(\Sigma\) has genus zero. In this case an effective description of the element of \(S\) is given.
